There is a lot happening in the cool garden at this time of the year as the winter slowly rolls over the mountains – (or in some cases very rapidly rolling). Suggestions for activities include planting all those seeds that you have accumulated and preparing for the burst of activity in September. It’s time to look at getting a head start on the food plants that need longer to establish by germinating them now inside. There are many plants that are frost tender that will enjoy the sun spots near your windows. Also there are a surprising number of food plants that will grow right through our ‘moderate’ winter and can handle the cold. This upcoming meeting we will be focussed again on the practical aspects of seed saving including harvesting, filtering/sieving and cleaning seeds along with packing and storage – and labelling. And as usual we will spend some time talking about the current seasonal planting and harvesting and swapping/packing seeds and swapping seedlings and cuttings between members.
It’s that time again!
This is just a quick reminder that the meeting for August 2025 of the Mid Blue Mountains SeedSavers is on at the Bullaburra Progress Hall this coming weekend.
Sunday 17 August 2025 from 10 am till Midday
