The next Australian National Seed Savers Meet on Zoom is coming up next weekend on Sunday the 6th of August.
At this meeting one of the Mid Blue Mountains Lloyd will be talking for a short time about adventures with ‘True Potato Seed’ and breeding and growing your own varieties from ‘real seeds’ and flowers alternatively to the common ‘Seed Potatoes’ which are essentially cloning or vegetative reproduction.

When: Aug 6, 2023 05:00 PM Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney

There will be three interesting talks that cover different aspects of seed saving and the different ways in which our groups operate. There will also be an open discussion about the tools we’re using for seed processing. Bring your questions and, especially, bring your favourite tools and equipment for seed processing!
Arian McVeigh & Thea O’Loughlin – ACT – Canberra Seed Savers : Seed Saving as a Cooperative Project – All about their Dwarf Tomato Project Working Group and how it operates and what it aims to achieve. (Advertised for the last session but Arian was unavailable at the last minute).
Lloyd Sharp – NSW – Mid-Blue Mountains Seed Savers : True Potato Seed – What it is, what’s involved and a look at Lloyd’s current harvest grown from seed. And a very quick overview of the biosecurity restrictions on sharing potatoes.
Danica Aldridge & Rebecca Hutton – Tas – Devonport Seed Library : About a Seed Library – How their library started, how it operates and what is happening seed-wise in their region of Tasmania.
Facilitated discussion: Show and Tell Time – What are you using to make seed processing easier? Where are you sourcing it? Sieving, winnowing, threshing. DIY, repurposed & purchased options – we want to see it all, no matter how simple or complicated.
